Who’s Not Now? No. 3 Michael Vick vs. No. 14 Becky Hammon
Welcome to another installment of TSC’s Who’s Not Now. We’ve created the bracket of 16 athletes and figures of the sporting world who took the wrong paths in life and now must face humiliation on this blog. We’re breaking them down. You decide Who’s Not Now.
No. 3 Michael Vick, fomer NFL quarterback vs. No. 14 Becky Hammon, WNBA and Olympic guard
Why Vick is Not Now: Michael Vick was supposed to be the Brett Favre of the Atlanta Falcons. After being the first overall pick in the 2001 NFL draft, he spent six years with the pro organization. During that time, Vick’s name was linked to many events that led up to his 23-month jail sentence for federal dog fighting. In 2004 two men were arrested for selling pot and were in a truck registered to Vick. In 2005 Sonya Elliott said she got genital herpes from Vick. Now he’s washing pots and pans for 12 cents an hour and playing prison football to stay in shape. Don’t drop the soap!
Why Hammon is Not Now: Becky Hammon played in the WNBA from 1999-2006 for the New
York Liberty before playing for the San Antonio Silver Stars. That’s seven years in the most patriotic city in America. And yet, Hammon has chosen to be a traitor and represent Russia in Beijing for the Summer Olympics. Anne Donovan, the head coach of the U.S. Women’s Olympic basketball team, said, “If you play in this country, live in this country and you grow up in the heartland, and you put on a Russian uniform, you are not a patriotic person.” Well said, coach Donovan.
TSC’s Pick: Michael Vick
But we don’t make the choices. YOU must vote on the right-hand column for who you think is “Not Now.”
Voting ends Monday at 7 p.m.
