FROM THE BOOZE BUZZ: After another long sports weekend with plenty of revelry all around (and, I might add, a resurgent performance by my Tigers), I got to thinking about what exactly it is about beer that makes it the best choice for any fandom.

I won’t say I’ve never gone the wine and cheese route while watching a game, but sipping a merlot while jumping up and screaming like a child just don’t seem to work exactly right. And of course I’ve enjoyed a cocktail or two while a game was on TV, but I hate to step away for as long as it takes to make a drink right. And shots are only a viable option if your team is being slaughtered and you can’t stand to be sober when the game ends.
