Favre just wants to RIP

Brett Favre isn’t making any rash decisions — again.

Should he decide to re-retire, the Jets’ quarterback just wants to RIP — Retire in Peace.

Favre, who is following the advice of Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum by not making a decision about whether he wants to continue playing for a few weeks.

“He said he’s not going to bother me for three or four weeks,” Favre said. “He told me to do whatever, and he’d give me a call in a month. Maybe I will tell him my answer that day. But he told me to get away and don’t even think about football.”

If Favre does decide to retire, he wants to do it without a public news conference. That way, if he decides to un-retire again a la Michael Jordan, there will be less to trip over.

Instead, we suggest he either comes back without making the world wait, or he should call up Tannenbaum from the depth of some woodsy area while he’s hunting, and deliver the news that he’ll never toss another touchdown pass (or interception) again. We don’t need a press conference. We believe the deer will laugh as hard as we would at his wimpy man tears.

I think if anybody has done as much as what Brett Favre has done for the NFL, and the career that he has had, I am willing to take 15 minutes out of my time to hear if he is re-retiring or not, press conference or not. No matter what happens with the Jets, he will always be a class act and maybe what happened this season was just a brain fart.
