There’s not too much that would get us fired up about the start of the NHL season. Sorry to all of you hockey fans, but we’re not part of your cult. It’s not a regional thing — we have representatives from coast to coast.
We’ll call it a texture thing.
This video, however, has us FIRED UP for the NHL season.
Here at TSC, we are all for having team spirit, but some people in Bean Town take it too far. This picture to the left is the perfect example of that. Looks like Mr. Boston had too many “Boston Lagaaas” before hitting up his local tattoo shop.
The NHL might need to raise its salaries or something. Chicago Blackhawks player Patrick Kane was charged with attacking a cab driver on Sunday. What caused it?
The driver didn’t have 20 cents in change to give to Kane, the No. 1 overall pick in 2007, and his cousin, police said. The cab driver suffered cuts to his face and his glasses were damaged, over 20 cents! Yeah, the economy is rough, but really? Over 20 cents! Kane earned $875,000 in US bucks last season.
Sure, you might be able to make a $2 energy drink for about 20 cents, but that’s about it. Maybe Kane will think about this when he’s writing a fat check for his actions.
No, no, no — that’s not the mascot of a new NHL expansion team. In that regard, he is still a Washington Capital. He does, however, like sitting by the ice and relaxing, even if he’s doing so while watching another NHL team practice. He just likes chilling — literally.
Ovechkin chilled on the visitors’ bench and watched the Rangers practice Monday morning when a Rangers trainer ratted him out to the Capitals. AO the polar bear was then asked to leave by PR dude Nate Ewell.
“Alex was just looking for a place to relax. He likes being by the ice,” Ewell said. “As soon as he found out it made the Rangers uncomfortable, he left.”
Was the visitors’ box was the only place to hang out and chill? Did Ovechkin forget to pay his AC bill last month? Is he really melting? Somebody get this scout a fan.
New England hockey fans are wicked stoked about Fenway’s future freezeover. This man, who clearly doesn’t care about watching baseball, seems to be the most excited:
