It shows they are truly human and fun. Shaq is one of these guys. Eric Byrnes is another example. Sammy Sosa was one of those guys, too.

But one of the best ways to express your fun side if you’re a pro athlete is through the Internet. Yes, the cyberworld opens you up to a much larger audience. Some of the best NBA guys have latched onto this.

Kobe jumping over cars and snakes became popular because of the net. Gilbert Arenas never fails to amaze readers on his blog. And Greg Oden is kinda like a giant teddy bear. But don’t forget about Channing Frye, either.

The Porland center has blogged for quite some time. Sure, he’ll talk about his charity events, movies and birthday gifts. But true gold of his blog, unlike Curtis Schilling, is his ability to really, really, really take you inside of his head. His recent entry about flying to Andre Iguodala’s celebrity game captured the true fundamental comedy of farting.

Apparently, public display of farting is somewhat of second nature to Frye (isn’t it for everyone, really?) — evident in his pre-Lasik surgery state. Everybody farts, but everybody can’t be an funny NBA blogger.

But when Shaq-Fu took the stage of a NYC nightclub and told Kobe to tell him how his ass tastes, you can almost be certain he didn’t have a marketing scheme hidden under his sleeves.

But after the rap, vendors of all sorts got creative and discovered ways for Kobe Bryant’s humility to live forever. One company created a ringtone that you can download for free. Then there were those who wanted a more visual representation of the rap, which they would sell for profit. Absolutely brilliant.
