Who’s Not Now? No. 2 Roger Clemens vs. No. 15 Matt Leinart

Welcome to another installment of TSC’s Who’s Not Now. We’ve created the bracket of 16 athletes and figures of the sporting world who took the wrong paths in life and now must face humiliation on this blog. We’re breaking them down. You decide Who’s Not Now.

No. 2 Roger Clemens, MLB free agent vs. No. 15 Matt Leinart, NFL quarterback

Why Clemens is Not Now: Possibly the greatest pitcher of his era, getting his fair share of Cy Young Awards and Triple Crowns, Roger Clemens may have seen his last game. He’s a sure-fire hall-of-famer, but Clemens is in hot water right now. He was alleged by the Mitchell Report to have used anabolic steroids, though he’s denied it. Last April, the New York Daily News reported that Clemens had been, you know, doing country music star Mindy McCready. Then news broke that he’d been, you know, doing Paulette Dean Daly, pro golfer Jon Daly’s ex. Clemens also allegedly had an afair with a Manhatan bartender and a Detroit stripper. One thing is for sure, though. He’s not, you know, doing anything involving Major League Baseball.

Why Leinart is Not Now: Matt Leinart sure didn’t let being born cross-eyed stand in his way. He had one hell of a career with USC, leading the Trojans to a national championship in 2003, a BCS national championship in 2004, and an appearance in the 2005 BCS national championship game. He was the Heisman winner in 2005, too. After being the man in the pocket for the Arizona Cardinals in his rookie season, Leinart basically lost his starting job to Kurk Warner because of some bad plays, a fractured collar bone and probably too much beer bonging with the underage broads. Leinart’s got a long career ahead of him, but he’s definitely not now.

TSC’s Pick: Roger Clemens

But we don’t make the choices. YOU must vote on the right-hand column for who you think is “Not Now.”

Voting ends Monday at 7 p.m.
