B. Jennings speaks to Rome media, we translate

Posted by Lance on July 29th, 12:02 am

Here’s a video of Brandon Jennings speaking through an interpreter to the media in Rome. Though his interpreter did a great job (we think, hell we don’t really know) of getting Jennings’ point across to the media, she didn’t touch on what he really said. That’s where TSC comes into play. We cracked open up our Jennings-to-Reality dictionary and have decoded what he really said.

The reason why I chose to come here is because, you know, I wanted to develop. You know, a lot of kids who come overseas, they play, they’re always developing, they’re always ready. They always fit in, you know, in the NBA. So I feel like this is the perfect opportunity for me.

Translation: Since I couldn’t qualify academically to play Division I basketball for one of the elite programs in the nation, I had three options: Play junior college basketball, become a spokesman for McDonald’s or play overseas. With that in mind, it’s true that I will be playing professionally against some guys that will prepare me for the NBA.

I talked to Coach. He said come in and listen and he said they’ll teach me all the things to do.

Translation: I’m just gonna play ball.

I wanted to try something different. You know, be a trend setter for those who don’t want to go to college. If this works out well, a lot of kids will start coming overseas to play basketball for a year or two.

Translation: I’m contagious, baby!

How long do I see myself here? No time limit at all. If it takes two years, it takes two years. If it takes three years, it takes three years.

Translation: If it weren’t for that stupid one year out of high school rule I’d be the NBA summer co-MVP with Jerryd Bayless. Since that’s not the case, I’m outta here in a year.

I’m kind of like Allen Iverson and Steve Nash.

Translation: I’m kind of like two NBA players, Allen Iverson and Steve Nash. As I said before, I’m NBA ready and you all should send Commissioner Stern some Euros because I’m here.

My brother? No, he’s not better than me. Not yet. Not yet.

Translation: I’m here playing in Europe. When he graduates from high school, Terrance is going to play on the moon. We’re a family of trend setters.

Why Rome? … They loved me. And why not come to Italy? It’s a beautiful place.

Translation: Ditto.
